Sinopse:
This work addresses the need to rethink the relationship between the scientific production developed in academia and its dissemination to a non-specialized public through social media. It emphasizes that scientific dissemination goes beyond visually appealing approaches and scientific jargon translation. Effectively connecting science and society is a challenge, and scientific dissemination becomes a powerful tool, mainly when guided by theoretical and methodological frameworks that foster horizontal dialogue with the public. Seeking to start a fruitful and continuous conversation on science in the digital world, the book explores the dynamics of social networks and media and their influence on science and public communication, pointing out their transformative potential and the challenges presented—from algorithmic filtering to the increasing use of social media by researchers. Throughout its six chapters, the book proposes a shift in how scientific dissemination practices are perceived, aiming to spark debates and reflections while offering a solid foundation for future discussions. Whether you are a novice reader or an experienced researcher, this work provides a gateway to a deeper understanding of scientific dissemination on social media, with a particular focus on the potential of TikTok.
